Shelcal syrup is used in the treatment of hyperphosphatemia in patients with chronic renal failure and hyperacidity. The medicine is also used to treat calcium deficiency in supplementation during growth, pregnancy, lactation, refractory rickets, hyperparathyroidism, and controlling hypocalcemia and renal osteodystrophy in patients with chronic renal failure who had undergone dialysis. However, the uses mentioned here are not exhaustive.
Mechanism of Action :
Calcium Carbonate is an antacid which works by neutralizing the acid released in the stomach. On the other hand, Vitamin D3 (also known as Cholecalciferol) is a fat-soluble vitamin naturally synthesized in the body when the skin is exposed to sunshine. It acts by regulating phosphorous and calcium levels in the body.
