Description
Shelcal OS Tablet 500mg is used to treat hypocalcemia, rickets or osteomalacia, hypophosphatemia, hypoparathyroidism, and renal osteodystrophy. Along with these uses, this medicine also helps in the treatment of hyperphosphatemia in patients with chronic renal failure and hyperacidity. However, the uses mentioned here are not exhaustive.
Mechanism of Action :
Alfacalcidol works by improving the amount of active vitamin D in the body which in turn results in increased calcium and phosphate levels in the blood and reduces breakdown of bones. Calcium Carbonate is an antacid which works by neutralizing the acid released in the stomach.
